Fortis Heating & Air Conditioning (“we”, “us” or “our”) installs, repairs and maintains heating, cooling and water heating equipment for homes across Durham Region and nearby communities from Oshawa through Cobourg. This policy explains what personal information we collect through fortisheating.com and when you call or email us, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have.

• Website forms. When you use a form on our site, such as the form on our Contact page or a service request form, we collect your name, email address, phone number and message. We receive each submission by email, and a copy is saved in our website’s database.
• Refer a Friend form. If you refer someone to us, we collect your contact details and your friend’s name, email address and phone number, plus any notes you add. Please refer only people you expect would welcome a call from us. We use your friend’s details to follow up on your referral.
• Online booking. Our online appointment buttons open a booking window provided by Housecall Pro, the scheduling software we use. The details you enter there, such as your contact information and the service you need, go to Housecall Pro and to us so we can schedule your visit.
• Calls, email and service visits. What you tell us by phone or email, and the information we need to quote, schedule, complete and bill for work at your home, such as your address and details about your equipment.

Information Collected Automatically

• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our site, such as the pages viewed, the device and browser used, approximate location, and actions like tapping our phone number or sending a form. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this.
• How you found us. Our site keeps a small record of how you arrived, such as the search engine, website or ad campaign that referred you, any ad click ID in the link you followed, your Google Analytics ID and the page you landed on. It’s stored in a cookie that lasts up to 180 days after your last visit and in your browser’s local storage, which stays on your device until you clear it. If you send us a form, this record is saved with your submission so we can see which pages and marketing channels bring us inquiries.
• Spam protection and security. Our contact and service request forms use Google reCAPTCHA, which may set cookies, and all of our forms are screened by an anti-spam service, OOPSpam. reCAPTCHA processes your IP address and browser details, and OOPSpam checks your IP address and what you typed in the form. Our website host and security tools record technical details such as IP addresses to help keep the site working and block misuse.
• Maps and reviews from Google. Our Contact page shows an embedded Google map, and some pages show Google reviews with reviewers’ profile photos. When these load, Google receives details of your visit, such as your IP address and browser, and may set cookies under its own privacy policy.

How We Use Your Information

We use personal information:

• to answer your questions and give you a quote
• to book, carry out and bill for service at your home
• to follow up on referrals
• to learn which parts of our site, search results and referring websites lead to inquiries
• to keep our site working and our forms free of spam and misuse
• to meet our legal and accounting obligations

We share personal information only as this policy describes. The service providers that help us run our business and our website are:

• Our website host: hosting the site and its database.
• Our website and marketing provider: maintaining the site, keeping its forms working and reporting on inquiries. They may receive copies of form submissions.

• Housecall Pro: online booking and scheduling.
• OOPSpam: screening form submissions for spam.
